Meet Dr. Albert Lin

Dr. Albert Lin graduated from UCLA School of Medicine and completed his ophthalmology residency at Cullen Eye Institute, Baylor College of Medicine.  He then completed a glaucoma fellowship at the prestigious Wills Eye Hospital under the direction of world-renowned gluacoma expert, Dr. George Spaeth.  Dr. Lin is an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at Baylor College of Medicine and teaches medical students and residents and at the Michael E. DeBakey Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

Dr. Lin is an expert in the field of cataract and glaucoma diagnosis and management.  He has published many orignal research articles (ViiCTR publication profile), including in the two most esteemed publications in the field, Ophthalmology and British Journal of Ophthalmology.  He has written a book chapter on glaucoma in Conn's Current Therapy, a reference used by healthcare professionals.  He has lectured at Univeristy of Houston's Clinical Associates Program and Clinical Care Symposium and prepared others for oral board examination at the Osler Institute.  Some of his original research findings have been presented in places such the American Glaucoma Society annual meeting.  He also serves as an expert medical reviewer with the Texas Medical Liability Trust in legal cases and provides second opinion consultation services to patients across the country through 2nd MD.  Dr. Lin has performed thousands of ophthalmic surgeries and employs the latest surgical techniques.  Patients undergoing small incision sutureless laser cataract surgery often see well the same day or the next day.  New intraocular lens technology allows patients to have their near-sightedness, far sightedness, astigamtism, or presbyopia corrected at the time of cataract surgery.  Optimized pressure control can be achieved through Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty (SLT), Minimally Invasive Glaucoma Surgery (MIGS), Traditional Glaucoma Surgery (TGS), or Cyclophotocoagulation (CPC).

Individualized patient care is imortant to Dr. Lin and he may take a little longer to assess your conditions at the initial visit to determine what is the best course of treatment for you.  This is especially important for our glaucoma patients because glaucoma progresses differently in different patients; while conservative medical management may be appropriate for one patient, laser or surgical intervention may be the better choice for another patient.  He will discuss the available options and decide on the most suitable treatment plan with you and your family.

In his spare time, Dr. Lin enjoys dining, traveling, and spending time with his family.
